Dianthus 'Kahori' is a hybrid dianthus that typically grows in an upright rounded mound noted for its long summer bloom of fragrant rosy pink flowers. Flowers bloom from late spring to early summer with continued but somewhat sporadic additional bloom to fall. Narrow, gray-green leaves typically form a dense mound of grass-like foliage. Leaves are evergreen in warm winter climates. Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun. Prefers fertile, slightly alkaline, loose, somewhat gritty loams with good drainage. Add lime to acidic soils to adjust the soil pH. Best grown with regular and consistent moisture during the growing season. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional bloom. Consider shearing plants back after main flush of bloom in order to tidy the planting and to promote additional bloom in late summer or early fall.
