Performing well in partial shade in the container or bed, if planted in full sun it will produce the darkest leaf color and will quickly fill in with a mounding habit. Deep blue flower spikes stand out against the dark foliage from late spring to early summer. Suitable for many soil types and moisture levels.

Ajuga grows best in partial to full shade but will also grow in full sun if constant moisture is provided. It will tolerate any soil, even poor ones, as long as it is well-drained. Good air circulation is essential to avoid crown rot.
